Vaultwarden Password Manager

A single password reused everywhere is a ticking time bomb. As soon as a site gets hacked, all your accounts are exposed. A password manager generates and stores unique passwords for each service. Bunker hosts Vaultwarden, an open source solution with end-to-end encryption.

Access: vault.getbunker.net

Why Vaultwarden?

Vaultwarden is an open source implementation compatible with the Bitwarden protocol. Your passwords are encrypted on your device before being sent to the server. Even we can't read your data.

Decryption happens on your devices. Never on the server.

What Really Changes

The source code is auditable by anyone. No black box.

Your data belongs to you. Export it whenever you want, in standard formats (JSON, CSV). You can leave Bunker tomorrow and reimport your data on your own Vaultwarden server or on Bitwarden.

Your passwords stay in Europe, subject to European law. No CLOUD Act, no access by foreign authorities.

You Keep Control

A password manager is a long-term commitment. Switching solutions is painful. With Vaultwarden:

  • Compatible with all Bitwarden clients (desktop, mobile, browser extensions)
  • Standard export formats (non-proprietary JSON)
  • Documented and open protocol
  • Active community maintaining the project

If Bunker disappears tomorrow, you export your data and import it elsewhere in 5 minutes. Try doing that with LastPass.

Why Bunker Instead of Self-Hosting?

You could install Vaultwarden on your own server. But:

An unavailable password manager is paralyzing. If you lose your data, it's catastrophic. At Bunker, we take care of availability and backups.

Quick Start

1. Create an Account

  1. Go to console.getbunker.net
  2. Create your Bunker account or log in
  3. Activate the Vaultwarden service from the console
  4. Choose a strong master password (it's the only one you'll need to remember)
  5. Then access vault.getbunker.net to use your vault
Master Password

We cannot recover your master password. If you lose it, your data is inaccessible. Choose something memorable but hard to guess.

2. Install Clients

Vaultwarden is compatible with all Bitwarden clients:

  • Browser extension: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • Desktop application: Windows, macOS, Linux
  • Mobile application: iOS, Android

When configuring, specify the custom server: https://vault.getbunker.net

3. Import Your Existing Passwords

If you already use a password manager:

  1. Export your data from your old manager (CSV or JSON format)
  2. In Vaultwarden, go to Tools > Import
  3. Select the source format
  4. Import the file
  5. Delete the export file from your disk (it contains your passwords in plain text)

Export Your Data

To retrieve your data at any time:

  1. Log in to vault.getbunker.net
  2. Go to Tools > Export
  3. Choose the format (JSON recommended for a complete backup)
  4. Enter your master password
  5. Download the file
Local Backup

Make a regular export and store it in a safe place (encrypted USB drive, physical safe). If all else fails, you'll have that.

Best Practices

  • Master password of at least 16 characters
  • Two-factor authentication (TOTP) enabled
  • A different password per site (the built-in generator takes care of it)
  • Share credentials via Vaultwarden organizations, not by email
